We will be welcoming new members into our congregation on November 16.  If you have already attended an Inquirers Meet-ing, please notify Rev. Ensley if you are ready to join at this time.  If you haven’t attended one, contact him by Nov. 12 so he can plan to meet at your convenience.

Flower Chart to be Posted 11/16

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

The 2009 flower chart will go up on the bulletin board outside the church office on Sunday, November 16.  If you would like to sign up for flowers on the altar or in the niche for a Sunday service, please sign your name on the chart next to the date which you would like.  If the altar and niche are taken for a day which you want, please contact the church office to make arrangements to have flowers put on the pedestal.

After you sign up for flowers, Jennifer Jordan will contact you prior to the Sunday service for which you signed up in order to obtain your flower order, including the occasion for the flowers and the type of flowers which you would like.  You will then receive a bill for the flowers the week after your flowers are in the service.  You may also pay for the flowers ahead of time.  Flowers on the altar and pedestal cost $45, and flowers in the niche cost $25.  If you would like higher-priced flowers, please let Jennifer know when you place your order.  After the service, you may take the flowers.  If you have any questions about this process, please contact Jennifer.  Thank you to all who participate and help beautify the church for Sunday services!

Bay Shore Knitters & Crocheters

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Our community outreach project provides hand-made items for the Christmas families, Woman to Woman shelter, and homeless of Long Beach. We have several blankets completed, ranging from baby to adult size, and we need more! There is no set type – each of us chooses our own pattern, yarn, and size.  Some are also making booties and caps for babies and children. We work on our own and gather at Church the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month 10:00 a.m. – Noon. We bring our own lunch and share our progress, help each other, and get new ideas! Some are Church members, some are friends in the community, and some cannot join us on Wednesday but work on their own at home.

Please join us in our “Blessings from Bay Shore” project to bring warmth and caring to those who need it most in our very own community. Riding in a car, boat, or watching TV are great times to knit or crochet, so get those needles out and start stitching! Bring your completed blankets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday or to the church office. Call Linda Landes with any questions. Deadline for completed projects is Sunday, Nov. 30.

New, All-Purpose Offering Envelopes

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The Business Affairs Commission is testing new all-purpose offering envelopes to replace both the pledge and pew rack envelopes, and to make giving easier for both members and visitors.  The new format will allow contributors to submit a one-time credit card payment, register for recurring credit card payments, and specify special offerings, in addition to accepting traditional offerings.  The new envelopes, which can be sent through the mail with first-class postage, will be available soon in the pew racks, by request through the pledge form, or by contacting the church office.
