OPERATION KID TO KID MISSION PROJECT: VBS 2008
Kids Come for the Game…and Leave With the Truth. This year’s Operation Kid-to-Kid program lets your kids send soccer balls to children who are so deep in poverty they can’t afford a soccer ball of their own. These soccer balls are called “GO Balls” (Gospel Outreach ball) because they have special colors that are related to sharing the Gospel. The unusual colors prompt children in Africa to ask what the decorations mean great introduction to sharing the Gospel! Your kids will touch, and personalize GO Balls that will then be delivered to needy children. It’s hands-on missions…and it changes kids: those who receive the balls, and the kids who send them. Plus, children who receive the balls will also receive a guide called “Coaching for Sport… Coaching for Life” translated into their native language. Why Soccer Balls? International Bible Society knows how important it is to reach children, and Operation Kid-to-Kid is designed to reach children on both ends of the GO Ball with the Gospel – the children who receive the ball, and your children. In Africa, sports and games outreach programs draw children by the thousands, children who come to play and then stay to hear about Jesus. Everyone can help. Each ball costs $8.99. If you wish to participate in our VBS Soccer Ball Drive, A donation of $10 would purchase the ball, and assist with some postage to get the balls to the distribution center. Or just toss your loose change into the collection bucket and we’ll put it toward a group purchase. Look for our display in the Concert Hall.

Children’s Musical Sunday, May 18th During Worship

The Tale of the Three Trees, written by Angel Elwell Hunt, and set to music by Allen Pote, is based on an American folk tale. As the story goes, Once upon a mountaintop, three trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up. The first tree wanted to be a fine wooden chest made to carry fine jewels, the second tree wanted to be the mast of a mighty sailing ship, and the third tree wanted to continue to grow and point to heaven. As the years passed, the three trees nearly forgot their dreams. Eventually, each tree gets its wish, although not in the way it had foreseen. They discover that things turned out just the way they should have. Those who hear the story will be reminded that God has plans for every one of his creations, that He never loses sight any of us.

Come to worship with us on Sunday, May 18th as the members of the Bay Shore Children’s Choir and guests share this powerful message of God’s love for us.

Final rehearsals for the Musical are:
Sunday, May 11 – 11 – 11:30 rehearsal Tuesday,
May 13 - 4:00 – 6:15 pm Dress Rehearsal: Pizza for everyone!
Sunday, May 18 – Call: 8:00 am – run-through dress rehearsal
